Shindig Update!

Here are some of the amazing actors in Fred Waring's Christmas Shindig!

  • Katherine Perry, our Director of Education, is a member of Bright Invention and plays Susan Roachenberger-Halberstam, a mom in one of the families that visits Fred. She just completed a run of Rodeo at Walnut Street Theater Studio on Five, and will be appearing in her own one-woman show in SoLow Fest this summer.
  • John Schultz, member of Bright Invention and creator of Till Birnam Wood, his extraordinary adaptation of Macbeth, to be presented at the New York Fringe Festival. He also is the owner of Batter & Crumbs, a vegan bakery specializing in desserts and pastries. John will play Fred Waring.
  • Matthew Norden is a senior at Abington Friends School and just appeared in their spring production of Pippen. Matthew will play Apollo/Artemis Roachenberger-Halberstam, Susan's gender-fluid son/daughter.
  • Isabel Cohen is a student in our Acting Out! class, and at the Pathway School. She has been in many plays and musicals at Pathway, most recently Shrek: The Musical. She is playing Jessica Silver, the daughter in one of the families visiting Fred and the Warings.

We are halfway to our fund raising goal!

Twenty five donors have supported The Shindig with $2,563.00. We need to raise $5,000 by June 13th to match the $5000 offered by an anonymous donor as a challenge grant. Won't you please be a part of this radically inclusive, brand-new holiday musical? Just click here, any amount will help us!

Check out the Fred Waring archives at Penn State!

Director Benjamin Lloyd and Assistant Director Peter Camp drove to State College PA to visit the Fred Waring archives and arrange for the rights to Fred's music, arrangements, and likeness. It was very successful visit and you can see a  picture gallery by clicking here!
